Our personal review

True luxury villas are rare on Alonissos and this villa is probably the only one right by the beach. Only a handful of houses share the beach of Megali Ammos and those are well spread throughout the bay, guaranteeing absolute privacy and serenity to its guests.

The owners have successfully blended the villa into the lush green nature of the bay without compromising on luxury or modern design. The remote controlled gate, the natural stone driveway, the spacious pool area and ample outside sitting areas are hardly visible from the distance, yet the view from each chill-out area is uninterrupted and captivating. Even the recently built desalination plant is totally inaudible due to the extreme insulation and the thick natural stonewalls housing the machinery in a remote corner of the property.

Alonissos is not a touristy island in general and this villa is located on the even less frequented west coast of the island. If the fine pebble beach below the villa weren’t mentioned as one of the most beautiful ones on the island, probably nobody would ever make his way to the remote bay.

The interior of the villa impresses with a modern design, large windows with views that are so mesmerizing that they appear like paintings, all the facilities one may possibly need and a layout that stretches over 3 floors allowing plenty of personal space for all its residents.

Built on a slope, the main entrance leads us to the ground floor that is at the same time the first floor towards the sea. It consists of a living room, dining area and open plan kitchen. Both living room and kitchen provide access to the ample outdoor sitting and dining areas on the veranda with their alluring sea view.

Up a few stairs, passing a small guest WC, we reach the first bedroom with two single beds. Up a few more stairs we reach the second bedroom with a double bed and balcony with the best view in the entire villa. Both bedrooms have windows to three sides to flood the rooms with sunlight and to present the amazing sunset over the Aegean Sea. A shared bathroom is between the two bedrooms and comprises of a bathtub, sink and WC.

Below the ground floor is the spacious master suite: a low double bed below a huge window, a lounge area with a hidden kitchenette (inside a cupboard) and a bathroom with a 4 Person Jacuzzi, shower, sink and WC. A door leads out onto a spacious outdoor sitting area with direct access to the garden and the stairs leading to the beach. The master suite is totally independent in case you don’t want to emerge into the main house for breakfast or an evening snack.

The “all in one” open plan master suite has its little downsides like the slightly noisy cleaning intervals and increased humidity from the Jacuzzi (although it can be switched off if you like) as well as the “open plan toilet”, but at the same time it is undoubtedly the highlight of the villa and I am sure it will be your first choice for sleeping.

Low natural stonewalls on the veranda and terraces, as well as windy stairs inside the house, make the villa unsuitable for small children but I must say that my 2-½ year old daughter was never tempted to do anything silly enough to put herself into danger. She was far too busy with the Jacuzzi, the pool and of course the beach.

An extra guest house next to the villa provides accommodation to two more guests offering privacy and tranquility.

The villa is reached via a dirt road, which is approximately 4 km long. The last 400m or so of the road is rather rough; hence a jeep is highly recommended. The port/capital of Alonissos is approximately 5km from the villa. The picturesque village Steni Vala is an approximate 20 minutes drive away and offers a selection of lovely fish taverns lined along the waters edge.
